Breakthrough experiment releases more energy than it uses.
High-Powered Lasers Deliver Fusion Energy Breakthrough. Scientists at National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California claim major breakthrough in fusion energy using high-powered lasers! This marks the first time in any experiment more energy is released than was contained in the energy in the fuel that was put into it. The experiment used 192 lasers and 170 micrograms of a superheated fusion fuel in accomplishing the impossible, it released more energy than it required.
It is believed to be decades before reliable fusion energy can be made available for use.
